General Description:
Prodigy is seeking a highly-skilled system administrator to manage and setup workstations, file servers, webservers, networks, backups, firewalls, hardware, peripherals and all related environments. The candidate needs to have experience with numerous different platforms, including Linux and Windows Servers, and be especially good at identifying problems and finding solutions for them.
Key Responsibilities:
Setting up and maintaining the following server environments and softwares: Windows 2003, Windows 2008, Ubuntu, Linux Red Hat, Fedora, CentOS, Debian, FreeBSD, Apache, PHP, ASP.NET, MySQL, SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2005, IIS 6.0, IIS 7.0, FTP clients and servers, ClamAV
Setting up and maintaining workstations with Windows XP and Windows 2003, and all related softwares, user settings, network settings, backup schedules, security etc…
Networking - Manage office routers, firewalls, switches as well as assist in web server networking issues
create backup and recovery plans for all servers and workstations and maintaining them
Evaluate and recommend hardware and software solutions
Setting up virtualization for running multiple OS's on same hardware box
Develop Best Practices for Windows desktops and servers
Create and maintain technical documentation and "How-Tos" for the IT Dept and for users
Applying operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes
Work Experience / Education Requirements:
At least 2 years work experience as a system administrator (must have working experience with both Windows and Linux servers, for apache and IIS)
Degree/associates from a technical school or university
Qualifications:
Must be able to work with all the systems, softwares and environments mentioned in the responsibilities section
Must have industry work experience with Windows Servers, IIS, LAMP
Experience in setting up continuous Backup plans
experience with hardware configuration for desktops, servers
Networking - Extensive knowledge of Networking Fundamentals (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, SMTP, FTP, SNMP, VPN, DHCP), routers, firewalls, switches
Must be familiar with english softwares and system environments as all systems are in english
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in documentation in english
Self motivated in learning different technologies and being up to date with the latest computer trends, tools, methodologies, hardware releases, security alerts
Extremely skilled at troubleshooting and debugging systems and configurations
Positive attitude when working under time constraints, pressure and difficult challenges
Methodical and detail orientated
Good interpersonal skills, teamwork skills, and conflict resolution, must be able to handle staff technical issues in a friendly and effective manner
